About

I’m a writer and photographer based in Southwest Florida, where I have worked as a journalist since 2007, reporting on art, commerce, city governments, people and culture.

During those years, I completed a bachelor’s in English at Florida Gulf Coast University. And between 2021 and 2024, I lived and worked in Los Angeles while completing a certificate program at The Los Angeles Center of Photography.

My career began in 2007 at Florida Weekly in Fort Myers, writing stories published under the slogan: “In the Know, In the Now.” I became a versatile general assignment journalist with expertise in producing, writing, editing and photographing stories. I was recognized by the Florida Press Association with 30 mentions for feature writing (15 first-place), including the FPA’s Claudia Ross Memorial investigative reporting award for a detailed look at the end of Greyhound racing in the state. In 2017, I received The Naples Press Club’s Young Print Journalist of the Year award for stories that included a feature on little-known Harlem, Fla.

I grew up in Eastern Kansas and worked as a server and cook at restaurants in Kansas, Milwaukee and Florida.
